Tunkhannock Junior Women's Club

Our Purpose

 
The objective of the TJWC is to unite the influence and interest of women to promote civic, educational, and social measure.  
 
Our club year starts in September and culminates in May with a fun-filled year-end banquet.  We do not meet in December. 
 
Throughout the course of the club year, we host several public Community Service and Fundraising events as well as Social events for members.
 
All proceeds from our fundraising events are disbursed to various Wyoming County charities and scholarships at the end of our club year.

Community Service Events

Blood Mobile
In conjunction with the American Red Cross, Club members host a blood drive in the Tunkhannock area once a year, volunteering their time and\or baked goods.
 
Daffodil Days
In conjunction with the American Cancer Society, Club members volunteer time to sell daffodils during "Daffodil Days".
 
Relay for Life
New this year.  Club members volunteer their time to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
 
Senior Citizen's Home Christmas Project
Club members adopt senior citizens living in a personal care home and provide Christmas gifts for them.
 
Soup Kitchen
Club members volunteer their time at the local Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen several times a year.
 
 

Fundraising Events

Fall Fest Arts & Craft Show
TJWC's largest fundraiser every year.  Each October, the club hosts over 100 craft vendors occupying approximately 150 booths at the Tunkhannock Area High School.  Our concession area is renown for wonderful food and fabulous homemade desserts.  A great day of fun, fellowship, and shopping.
 
Yard Sale
TJWC hosts a yard sale in early May where lots of gently used and like-new items are sold.
 
 
 
Social Events
 
Social events for TJWC members vary throughout the year; some past social events have included new member orientation teas, trips to NY wine country, gourmet dinners, cookie exchanges, Easter egg hunts, Halloween parties, girls night out for dinner, movie, etc., and much more!
